Can you fit Solar Hot Water Panels to any home?
Every solar thermal hot water panel installation is different, therefore we are always happy to provide specific advice and a free quotation.
Solar Panel Location: You will need a three to four square meter area of roof to install the solar panels. Ideally this should be no more than 40 degrees west of Due South and 30 degrees east of Due South at a pitch of approximately 35 degrees. Active Gas Heating will check all these details for you when we carry out your free survey and quotation.
Flat roof: Don't worry if you have a flat roof, solar panels can still be fitted to your roof although planning permission will be required.
Boiler Compatibility: Most gas and oil central heating systems will be compatible to add Solar Thermal hot water to although the hot water cylinder will need to be replaced.
Airing cupboard: Ideally your airing cupboard will need to be large enough to accommodate the Solar Control Panel and a slightly taller hot water cylinder to achieve the most efficient results.
Planning Permission: For the vast majority of solar hot water panel installations planning permission is NOT required however Active Gas Heating can take care of any planning should it be necessary.

Maintenance costs are very low. Solar hot water panels typically come with a 3-5 year guarantee depending on the manufacturer. Active Gas Heating recommend an inspection of your system 3 years after installation to check Glycol levels etc and then every 2 years thereafter. This can be carried out at the same time as your Gas Boiler service.
